Aegerter signs on with Dynavolt Intact GP Team for 2021

The Swiss rider will continue with the Intact GP team next season

Only a few weeks have passed since the thrilling finale of the 2020 FIM Enel MotoE World Cup at Le Mans, but the enthralling battles that have been fought throughout the season are still fresh in the memory. But the focus is already on 2021, the third season of the all-electric series.

Once again on the grid with the Dynavolt Intact GP team: the World Cup third of 2020, Dominique Aegerter. The 30-year-old delivered an almost flawless rookie season in MotoE but after two DNF's through no fault of his own, says that he "still has a bill to settle", especially because those crashes may have cost the team the World Cup title. Finally, the Swiss finished third overall, but with the same amount of points as the runner-up.

After he collected his well-deserved medal at the FIM Awards prize-giving ceremony in Portimao, Portugal, on Sunday, the racer from Rohrbach will now use his winter break to reflect on an eventful year and to concentrate fully on his ambitious fitness programme after the Christmas holidays, before the first official test is scheduled for spring.

There will be seven races in the 2021 season, which kicks off on May 2 on the Andalusian circuit in Jerez de la Frontera. Five more venues will follow, with Assen and Barcelona adding two new tracks to the World Cup calendar.

When this highly competitive electric championship enters the next round, the Dynavolt Intact GP Team and Dominique Aegerter will come back as title favourites.

"I am very excited to be back in MotoE in 2021 with the Dynavolt Intact GP Team. We have had a great season this year with two wins and two third places. Unfortunately, we have also had bad luck on several occasions, when I was taken down twice. Nevertheless, in the end, I finished third overall. But we still have a score to settle next year. So we'll be attacking from the very beginning and try to be at the top at every opportunity. It was nevertheless an incredibly wonderful moment for me when I received the award for third place overall at the awards ceremony last Sunday. It is my first medal in a FIM race series. So it will also have a special place in my home," said Aegerter.

"I would like to thank the team, especially the team managers at Dynavolt Intact GP, for continuing to believe in me and giving me this opportunity to race for them again. It really is a great team, loyal sponsors, great mechanics - all this is important and the trust is there, especially since the cooperation is exceptionally good. I feel really comfortable in the team. I can't wait to get back on the MotoE™ machine. There will probably be seven races again, with Assen and Barcelona as two new circuits. Of course, I already know both tracks from Moto2™. Hopefully, over the winter months there will be some further developments on the bike, so that we can do a few more laps in the races, with a little more power, and the bike itself a little lighter. I would like that very much."
