Following the recent announcement from the FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports confirming the Grand Prix of Doha on the provisional 2021 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship calendar, the 2021 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup calendar has also been updated.
As previously announced, the 2021 IATC season will begin with two races at the Grand Prix of Qatar. However, Round 2 of the IATC will now coincide with the recently-announced Grand Prix of Doha, which takes place from the 2nd to the 4th of April. Two IATC races will take place at each round held at Losail International Circuit, opening the season with back-to-back race weekends for the Cup.
The IATC round set to take place at Sepang International Circuit alongside the Malaysia Superbike Championship is therefore now a reserve round.
The entry list for the 2021 IATC has also been updated, with Qatari rider Hamad al-Sahouti set to join the grid as the 21st full-time competitor. Eight countries will therefore be represented by the permanent and reserve riders in the 2021 Cup: Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Thailand and Turkey.
