Viñales quickest in FP4 as MotoGP™ top speed record broken

It was an encouraging session for the factory Yamahas while Johann Zarco went over 360 km/ h in Qatar

The final Free Practice session of the weekend saw Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) top the timesheets thanks to a 1:54.106 recorded on his final lap. It’s a result that will come as a boost to the factory side, with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) also inside the top 3 times.

Sandwiched between those two is Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing), who set a new outright top speed record for MotoGP™, hitting a quite astonishing 362.4 km/ h at Losail. Catching the slipstream down the straight the Frenchman broke the previous record held by Andrea Dovizioso, set in the 2019 Italian GP, by 5.7 km/ h and in the process becomes the first premier class rider to go over 360 km/ h. It’s a stunning achievement for the number 5, but he could only manage to take P2 for the session and was the only Ducati to make it inside the Top 10.
