Zarco sends warning shot with top spot in FP4 in Germany

The Frenchman charged to the top, but can he stay there for qualifying?

The 2021 MotoGP™ World Championship is in its eighth round at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland and under the sunny skies, the Sachsenring enjoyed a calm before a storm in FP4. Johann Zarco led a French 1-2 ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), as both shone brightly. 0.157s from the top spot was Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), whilst Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) was just a further four thousandths back. Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) slotted into fifth ahead of qualifying as he looks to retain his ‘King of the Ring’ title at the Sachsenring.

Other key positions include Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) who was down in 12th, whilst Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) was only 15th. Most of the field used hard front tyres and medium rears, suggesting that it may be the tyre of choice for tomorrow’s Grand Prix. Big moments in FP4 included Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol) suffering a crash at Turn 1, and Jack Miller enduring a mechanical problem halfway through.
