Martin and Oliveira progress from tense Q2

Alex Rins was unfortunate to miss out as he was just over a tenth off the pace

Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) showed his race-winning form to come through Q1 top of the timesheets thanks to a 1:23.197 at the Bitci Motorrad Grand Prix of Austria. The Spanish rookie will be joined by Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in Q2, with the Portuguese rider fighting through the pain barrier to secure his place in the battle for pole.

It was disappointment for Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) who lost out at the death having ridden well through the session, but in the end he couldn’t find that extra tenth needed to progress. Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol) is the other rider who could count himself unfortunate to miss out, but the number 73 will start from 14th on the grid.

Up next is the scrap for pole position in Q2.
