Dixon goes three from three in Moto2™ practice

Jake Dixon (Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team) remains unbeaten in the Moto2™ class this weekend at the Red Bull Gran Premio de España after setting a 1:41.556 in the closing stages of FP3. As it was in FP1 on Friday at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) made it an all-British top two courtesy of a 1:41.568, with Belgian Barry Baltus (RW Racing GP) third on a 1:41.598.

Only 0.123s covered a top six which was rounded out by Marcel Schrötter (Liqui Moly Intact GP), Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing Team), while Fermin Aldeguer (Lightech Speed Up) and Ai Ogura (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) were both barely more than two tenths of a second off the pace. Championship leader Celestino Vietti (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) had a battle on his hands to get into the top 14 cut-off for Q2, and early trouble with traffic did not help, but the Italian eventually set a lap time good enough for 10th.

Fellow title contender Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) got through in 11th, and injured Flexbox HP40 rider Aron Canet managed 13th despite having a faster lap cancelled for a track limits breach. However, his team-mate Jorge Navarro will be participating in Q1 after a late crash saw him eventually slip to 16th in the order, while Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) was 17th.

Qualifying action in the intermediate class gets underway later on Saturday at 15:10 (GMT +2).
