Federico Fuligni was born in the Italian town of Bologna and spent much of his early racing career on 600cc machines. From 2006 to 2012 he participated in various Yamaha R6 cups, Italian Championship races and European Superstock 600 rounds, taking a number of podiums in the Italian series. In 2012 and 2013 he raced in the CIV Moto3™ series with multiple point scoring rides before debuting in the CEV Moto2™ championship in 2014, where he finished in 16th. He remained in the FIM CEV Respol Moto2™ European Championship in 2015 and ended in ninth, with a best finish of fourth in both the Aragon races. In both 2014 and 2015 he raced as a wildcard in the World Championship in Misano, Aragon and Valencia, with his best result coming as 25th in Valencia before the close of 2015. His strong rides with Team Ciatti earned him a full time ride with AGP Racing in 2016 aboard a Suter, as the Italian had helped Suter with developing their 2016 bike in the final rounds of the 2015 CEV series. In 2017 he rode a Kalex with Forward Racing Team in the FIM CEV Respol Moto2™ European Championship to seventh overall, and now moves up to the Moto2™ World Championship with Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2 full time.
