Another rider who was educated in the MotoGP Academy, Efren Vazquez is one of the older heads in the Moto3 category, having arrived relatively late to the World Championship in 2007. After a season in 250s Vázquez opted to move to the 125cc class for 2008, and his progress in the category was rapid. In 2010 he took his first podium finish and placed fifth in the standings, and in 2011 he was seventh overall. In 2012 he competed for JHK T-Shirt Laglisse in the inaugural Moto3 class, showing some promising glimpses along the way. For 2103 he moved to the Mahindra Racing outfit, which had big intentions for the year. Whilst Vazquez brought home some promising results for the team, he decided to move to Saxoprint-RTG for 2014 to contest the championship on a Honda, a decision which bore the fruit of two wins, seven podiums and his best ever campaign. In 2015 he rides a Honda again with the renamed Leopard Racing team.
