Talking Points: "Brazil is full of passion and love!"

An Aprilia one-two, contract talk and Brazilian legends, catch up on the hottest talking points following our return to Goiania

MotoGP is back in Brazil! What an incredible weekend we had at the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Brazil, with Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) adding yet another win to his tally. It was an epic ride from the Italian, grabbing victory ahead of teammate Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) and polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). From unforgettable rides to fellow motorsport stars giving their thoughts, catch up on everything from our return to Goiania!

"I tried to copy them!"

'Simply the Bez!' The #72 was on top once again, clinching Sunday victory for the fourth consecutive Grand Prix. The Italian held a 3.231s advantage at the chequered flag, ending the weekend on a positive note following a difficult start to the weekend on Friday. Bezzecchi describes his emotions as we leave Brazil and how he managed to turn his weekend around.

Bezzecchi: "Friday was super tough, honestly, I didn’t think I could leave Goiania with a win. I was not feeling good, I was a bit lost and trying to compensate, overriding, overbraking and overdoing everything to try and get closer, but it wasn't coming. After Practice, I sat down with my crew, and I said 'Let's try and calm down' and we worked on everything that we could.

"Saturday started better, I knew it wasn’t enough to fight for the podium in the Sprint, but seeing Diggia, Marc and Martin from behind, I tried to copy them. I tried to adjust my riding, and then this morning I felt even better, and I said, 'Okay, maybe I can do it!'"

"Hard work pays off!"

Injuries, setbacks, challenges, and now a comeback: Jorge Martin earned P2, securing his first Sunday podium with Aprilia Racing! It was a huge weekend for the 2024 MotoGP World Champion, who started from P5 on the grid, finished P3 in the Sprint before backing his pace up on Sunday. Martin now reflects on the weekend, his journey to reach the podium again and if this will change future talks!

Martin: "Emotions are always high, but yesterday (Saturday) I was a little bit happier because after a long fight I was back. Today I consolidated this result, and to close the weekend in this way has been crazy because I've been locked in for five and a half months. I’ve been just training and recovering, training and recovering. I didn’t miss a single day of my diet; I was always focused on my target, and this is the consequence of that, so for sure, hard work pays off!"

"I think the future will be the future, and right now we are in the present, and I want to focus on the present. You will always have thoughts, but as soon as I make a decision, I will go 100% with it. Now we are with Aprilia, now we are having a good moment, so it’s time to enjoy the moment."

"Brazil is full of passion"

It was a magical weekend, with the Autodromo Internacional de Goiania – Ayrton Senna hosting the premier class for the first time since 1989. It was also MotoGP’s first visit to this incredible country in 22 years, with riders, teams and of course the fans enjoying a festival weekend. From Brazilian roots to enjoying warm welcomes, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team duo, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, had plenty to say.

Morbidelli: "Brazil is full of passion and love! It’s a place which is full of marvellous things, and the people are really alive. Everybody is able to experience this vibe; it’s beautiful to spend time in Brazil, and this beautiful country, and witness all the nature, the people, the cities and the track, which is amazing."

Di Giannantonio: "It’s an amazing crowd here, I think it is one of, if not the warmest, welcomes that we’ve ever had in MotoGP. We’re pleased to race in front of these passionate people. I continue to say that the track is amazing and the energy around is unreal, it for sure gives me a boost!"

"He didn’t do any winter testing"

The Brazilian GP wasn’t the only thing returning this weekend as Fermin Aldeguer made his return to action, racing for the first time this year. Aldeguer was strong from the start, ending Sunday inside the top 10 after grabbing P8 at the flag. The #54 was impressive, scoring Championship points on return and even grabbing the attention of the VR46 Racing Team Manager, Pablo Nieto.

Aldeguer: "We have to be happy with our weekend, I think in the moment I'm not happy with the race, the weekend and the results. But I think when I wake up tomorrow, it will be different once I analyse and look at how I was three weeks ago. Now I'm inside the top 10, with points in the Championship, which for sure is good news, but in any case, I’m happy, and I think we worked well."

Pablo Nieto: "It’s amazing. The last time he was on the bike was in Valencia. He didn’t do any winter testing, no laps, no kilometers, and now he comes into this situation where conditions are not fully dry, and you cannot push at 100%. Even so, the direction he is taking is impressive. For us, he is one of the riders with the most potential for the future in MotoGP."

"He’s a future Champion"

The MotoGP stars weren’t the only big names on Sunday’s grid, as former F1 driver and Brazilian sporting icon Felipe Massa was also in attendance. Making the most of his MotoGP weekend, Massa shared his thoughts and even waved the Moto2 chequered flag. The former F1 driver also had the chance to meet Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR), praising the rookie highly.

Massa: "It’s amazing, I love to be here as it’s a great experience to see what they are doing on track and the courage these riders have to ride and what they’ll be able to do on track. Also, for me, it’s a pleasure to be able to watch MotoGP as you guys are so nice to receive all of us. It’s great to see MotoGP in Brazil!

"He’s a future Champion; I saw him before when I went to meet him for the first time. He’s very good mentally, but I told him to concentrate and to enjoy!"
