Hot early laps on Friday morning at Sepang

Friday morning’s action on the third day of the MotoGP™ test at Sepang saw the pace increase early on with Marc Marquez setting a rapid 1’58

In the relatively cooler temperatures of the early morning on track and with two days of riding under their belts, several riders went for outright pace on new tyres with many registering their best times so far over the three days of testing. Marquez dropped under the 1’59 mark, with his Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa (+0.139s) second on the timesheet.

Ducati Team’s Andrea Iannone and Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi lapped just over half a second behind Marquez, with Rossi’s colleague Jorge Lorenzo (+0.757s) also in the top five. In sixth place so far on Friday is Pol Espargaro who had a spill with major consequence on Friday morning – his third crash in three days.

Before breaking for lunch the likes of Rossi, Pedrosa and Lorenzo were on longer race simulation runs to gather further, crucial relevant data for their teams and to test their fitness levels.

Stefan Bradl (Forward Racing Team) remained as the top Open equipped rider in eighth by the midway stage of Friday’s test, whilst the likes of Suzuki’s Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Viñales both significantly improved their times to lap in 10th and 12th positions respectively.
