Rabat: “I can be fighting for the podium this weekend”

Rabat: “I can be fighting for the podium this weekend”

Reigning Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat shows consistent pace across opening practices at the Gran Premio bwin de España.

After a difficult start to 2015, Rabat is aiming to make amends and has set about doing so by finishing first and second in the opening practice sessions at Jerez. The 2014 Moto2™ Champion was able to lap in the mid to low 1’43s with relative ease in both sessions despite a change in track temperature. The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider’s race pace is already looking formidable, setting more 1’43 laps than any other rider.

FP2 saw Jonas Folger just edge Rabat for the top spot in the closing stages of the session. However, Rabat’s time from the cooler FP1 session of 1’43.198s still stood as the best of the day.

Tito Rabat:
“I am really happy with how today went. I was fastest in FP1 when the conditions were a little cooler, but I was also very close to being quickest again when the track temperature was much hotter this afternoon. So we have already shown the bike is working well and I am happy we have consistent grip to be fast for the whole race distance, even in the extremely hot conditions like we experienced this afternoon. After a challenging start to 2015, I am really confident I can be fighting for the podium this weekend.”
