Rabat: “I will try and give my team a result they deserve”

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Tito Rabat starts from pole position at the Gran Premio bwin de España, his first of the season.

A dominant weekend from the Spaniard sees the 2014 Moto2™ Champion convert his pace to pole. This is his second Jerez pole, having taken the first of his career here back in 2013 where he went on to claim victory in front of the home crowd. Rabat has been a strong qualifier throughout the year, having started on the front row at each round, but has encountered problems in the majority of races.

His race pace suggests that if he can avoid issues early in the race he will be able to battle with the likes of Rins and Zarco for the podium, and likely the win itself. If Saturday’s high track temperatures are any indication, it will be a long and tough Moto2™ race, especially as grip at Jerez suffers in the heat.

Tito Rabat:
“I am really happy to take the pole position today because we did a fantastic job in qualifying. Conditions were incredibly hot again but my team gave me a bike with good and consistent grip and now I am looking forward to the race. We have started from the front row of the grid in every race but not finished on the podium and I’m determined to put that right tomorrow. I will try to enjoy the race and give my team a result they deserve for all their hard work.”
