New Dunlop tyres for Moto3™ riders in Le Mans

New Dunlop tyres for Moto3™ riders in Le Mans

Moto3™ riders will have two new Dunlop tyres to choose from at the French GP in Le Mans.

The Soft ‘1’ and Medium ‘1’ rear tyres use the same construction as their predecessors but have a new compound that has been developed and tested over the last 18 months receiving final confirmation at a post-race test in Jerez last week. The Soft ‘1’ is stronger and has been designed to be a more attractive race option. Medium ‘1’ has more grip, more strength and a wider operating window.

The new front tyre compounds remain the same but from Le Mans onwards the tyres will have a new size with a narrower and deeper profile which improves performance with better feedback and grip. The new additions to the Dunlop range will compete at the Le Mans Grand Prix on 17th May.

Le Mans is one of the most used tracks in the world and Dunlop had great success in the open tyre competition FIM Endurance World Championship at the track in April with all three class winners wearing the iconic yellow caps on the podium.

It is events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans that help Dunlop designers develop tyres to provide better durability and performance year after year, such as improving constructions and compounds, including the new Moto3™ options.

Dunlop has allocated the softest tyres in the range for both classes. Moto2 will use the same Soft’ 1’ and Medium ’2’ options used in Jerez while Moto3 riders will have the choice of the soft and medium tyres for the front and the Soft ‘1’ and Medium ‘1’ for the rear.
