Bagnaia: “We go into my home race on a high”

Pecco Bagnaia is confident ahead of his home GP after achieving his first Moto3™ podium last time out in Le Mans.

The MAPFRE Team Mahindra rider heads to Mugello after completing a very productive two-day test on Monday and Tuesday in the wind tunnel at the University of Perugia. The test was aimed at improving the aerodynamic performance of the bike and to compare data with that already held by the team.

Bagnaia stood on a Grand Prix rostrum for the first time in France and is desperate to do so again in front of his home fans, friends and family. Pecco is confident that the chassis of his Mahindra will be perfectly suited to his home track, even though the team have work to do to find some more top speed for its  long straight.

Pecco Bagnaia:
“After our first podium at Le Mans we go into my home race on a high. I am really happy with the result in the last race and I am sure it will help us to build and improve from here. Mugello is a beautiful circuit, I love it. It is my home race, in front of my family and friends, so that is an extra motivation for me. The objective is to get back on the podium, if possible in a better position. The only thing we need to improve is our top speed but Mahindra have been working hard this week to try and give us something new for the Italian Grand Prix. In my opinion our bike should go well at Mugello because it has so many fast and flowing corners that should suit our chassis. Like at Le Mans we will try to qualify as high up as possible because we saw how important it was there.”
