 Kent blitzes record on way to Moto3™ pole at Mugello

Leopard Racing’s Danny Kent set the fastest ever time by a Moto3™ bike around Mugello to claim his second pole position of the season.

The British rider went out on his own late on the session and set a 1’56.615, destroying Alex Rins pole time (1’56.999) from last season. Kent’s teammate Hiroko Ono (+0.289s) was the only rider to get within 0.7s of the current Championship leader as he secured his first ever front row start, finishing in second.

Le Mans race winner Romano Fenati (+0.704s) on the Sky Racing Team VR46 KTM completes the front row, with Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Karel Hanika (+0.714s) in fourth. Local hero Niccolo Antonelli (+0.718s) will start Sundays race from fifth on the Ongetta-Rivacold Honda, with Drive M7 SIC’s Jakub Kornfeil  (+0.751s) in sixth.

Italian trio Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Team Moto3), Francesco Bagnaia (Mapfre Team Mahindra) and Andrea Locatelli (Gresini Racing Team Moto3) are in seventh, eighth and ninth respectively, with Isaac Viñales (Husqvarna Factory Laglisse) completing the top ten. Fabio Quartararo will start from 13th after crashing out of the session with 6 minutes to go, while John McPhee is at the head of the seventh row in 19th.
