Bastianini: “This is my first pole”

Bastianini: “This is my first pole”

The Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya was the sight of Bastianini’s first podium, now his first pole.

Gresini Racing Team Moto3’s Enea Bastianini cut through traffic to claim a career first Moto3™ pole position with a 1’50.137, setting a new fastest lap around the Catalunya circuit in the process.

The Italian was optimistic about tomorrow’s race, eager to close the 46-point gap to Danny Kent (Leopard Racing). FP1 had Bastianini crash out after just two laps but clearly the Italian suffered no major problems from the incident.

Enea Bastianini: “Qualifying was very difficult because there was too much traffic and it’s not easy. This is my first pole and the mechanics and I have been working very hard and this is the result. This is important for the race and we’ll see what it brings tomorrow.”

“I have a good bike and good setting. Tomorrow is one opportunity to fight for the win; I don’t know what it will take. I still don’t have much experience, as it’s only my second year here. But four second places and a third is not so bad!”
