A guide to the Catalan GP Moto2™ Race

A guide to the Catalan GP Moto2™ Race

All of the information you need to know to impress your friends ahead of the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya Moto2™ race.

The Moto2™ race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya consists of 23 laps around the 4.7km circuit, and is due to start at 12:20 local time:

  • Johann Zarco starts from pole for the second time this year. His other pole was in Argentina, when he took his only victory so far in 2015. Zarco is the first French rider to have two or more poles in a season in the intermediate-class of grand prix racing since Randy de Puniet was on pole twice in the 250cc class in 2004.

  • Jonas Folger starts from second place on the grid – his best qualifying result since he was on pole at Le Mans last year.

  • Tito Rabat is in third place on the grid, which is his sixth front row start of the year. Rabat will be attempting to repeat the back-to-back wins that he had at Mugello and Catalunya last year.

  • Dominique Aegerter, who heads the second row of the grid, scored his first podium of 2015 two weeks ago at Mugello when he finished third.

  • Sam Lowes is in fifth place on the grid and is the only rider not riding a Kalex in the top fourteen places on the grid.

  • Luis Salom, who is in sixth place on the grid, won the Moto3 race in Catalunya two years ago.
