Pedrosa: “It has been a very long process”

Pedrosa: “It has been a very long process”

A return to the MotoGP™ podium for Dani Pedrosa after a difficult start to the season.

It was a lonely ride for Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa as a variety of crashes left the Spanish rider almost 20 seconds behind the race winner and five seconds ahead of Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) in fourth. Regardless of the distance to the front, this is an important podium for Pedrosa who was forced to miss two races this year due to arm pump. Pedrosa had feared this injury may have ended his racing career.

There’s still work to do on the bike, Pedrosa admitted, as he and his team work to fully understand how to improve the Honda machine. Pedrosa’s performance was in stark contrast to that of his teammate Marc Marquez, who crashed at Turn 10 while chasing Lorenzo.

Dani Pedrosa: “I am very happy because it has been a very long process, we struggle a lot and suffer a lot in the last months, everything looked against me. I followed my heart and this was the right thing to do. I’ve made positive progress with each round. But finally some good results, especially in front of the home crowd was great. The team and I were struggling a bit with the bike and I hope soon we can get better and can ride with more consistency, but the podium is great for the team. Maybe some tracks will suit our bike more and we can improve in those situations.”
