Zarco: 'I got pushed in the first corner'

A second Moto2™ victory in 2015 for championship leader who is now 40 points clear of second.

The Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya saw a strong ride from Ajo Motorsport’s Johann Zarco, the Frenchman recovering for an incident in Turn 1. Zarco has shown both here in Catalunya and in Mugello that he is able to set fast laps throughout the race and maintain a high pace, even in the last lap.

Turn 4 saw Zarco slip into the lead on the final lap and the Frenchman maintained his lead to the end. Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) made an ambitious move at Turn 10, but Zarco defended his line to secure his second win of the season.

Johann Zarco: “I was pretty good in T1 and 2, but struggled a little in T3. If I wanted to overtake I had to do it at the start of the last lap. I closed the gap step by step. Lowes broke late and I got pushed in the first corner. I had to keep calm during the race and I had enough energy to keep pushing at the end. It’s like the entire South of France was here! I enjoyed this race a lot and it’s very good for the championship overall. A big thank you to the Clinca for all their work in keeping the riders healthy and relaxed.”
