Iannone: “Assen has been tough for Ducati”

Ducati Team’s Andrea Iannone sits third in the World Championship as the MotoGP™ paddock head to the Motul TT Assen.

2015 has so far been an incredible season for Iannone, claiming his first MotoGP™ podium and his first pole position at home in Mugello. The Italian enjoys the Dutch circuit and has had success there in the Moto2™ class with a second in 2012 and a win in 2010. His best MotoGP™ finish at the historic track has so far been a sixth place finish last year.

Last year saw Ducati teammate Andrea Dovizioso claim a second place finish at Assen for the factory Ducati team and Iannone will be aiming to replicate this performance. Both Ducati riders are still looking to find the full potential of the new GP15 machine. Rain is often a common occurence in Assen and Ducati have classically gone well in wet conditions, yet the GP15 has had limited time in these conditions.

Andrea Iannone: “I hope the Desmosedici GP15 will go better around Assen than at Barcelona, because it was a difficult weekend for me and for my team in Catalunya and for sure I want to improve on my result in the Netherlands. I’ve won before in Moto2 in 2010 at the Dutch track and I like it a lot, but I also know that in the past Assen has been a bit tough for Ducati. However this year we have a new bike, which still has a lot of untapped potential, and I am sure the GP15 will allow me to fight for the leading positions.”
