Marquez Blog: In Assen everything comes one day early

I’ve been waiting for this GP to arrive and I’m definitely ready for Thursday to come, so I can get back on my bike…

In his official blog for Marc Marquez looks ahead to the Motul TT Assen:

Hey everyone!

I’ve been waiting for this GP to arrive and I’m definitely ready for Thursday to come, so I can get back on my bike.

Last week was intense, on Monday we had a test session at the Montmelo circuit. Despite the rain, we were able to come away with some conclusions that we think we can use in Assen to regain some good feelings.

On Friday, we were lucky to have all the Repsol Honda Team riders together for the first time in A Coruña, and it was great. More importantly, all of the event proceeds went to the Rías Altas Food Bank. That same day, we had the opportunity to learn more about the efforts of this charity, and it’s rewarding to see what they do for others, for those who need it.

The event took place in the afternoon. It was very entertaining, and everyone had a great time. In fact, there were people everywhere and since it was for a common cause, it was even more special. I was glad to see Toni and Fuji again as I know them already, but the Team has grown, and we have a new member. I was looking forward to meeting Jaime Busto, and I can see that he already shows signs of being a champion.

That same afternoon, the whole Team traveled to the Dutch GP. It’s a very technical course, and prior preparation will be essential to find a good set up. Since Thursday, we’ve known that we have to be 100% ready in order to continue moving forward. Last year, we experienced a different a vibe, and now I hope to return to the forefront to fight for the victory until the very end.

In every single GP event, the fan club surprises me more and more. The fans are going all the way to the Netherlands to support me, and I can only thank all of you again (and for all the other times!). You’re all incredible. You’re always there. The fans are going to be at the Winterdijk Tribune circuit, so if you want to join them, you know where you have to go. I hope to return all this support with a great outcome in the Netherlands.

Question of the week:

You seem to be a great rider. I’d like to ask you, what material is used to make your race suit? Are your measurements taken every year? If you lose weight, is it altered? Question from Eneas

Hi Eneas,
My race suit is made from kangaroo skin, and the measurements are usually taken during the pre-season. The size doesn’t change throughout the year as it’s always the same. It seems to adapt to you and the shape of your body. I usually use a maximum of ten race suits throughout the entire season, but it also depends on how much they get damaged. The truth is the more worn in it is, the better. It’s just like a shoe, when it’s new; it’s a bit stiff.

Best wishes,

Marc Marquez
