Redding: “I suspect we’re in for a tough weekend”

Scott Redding heads to the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland in need of a confidence boost after a tough Assen race.

More work to do for Redding (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing) in Germany after another tough weekend in Assen. He and the team are both new to the Honda this year and have found the going tough, a seventh place finish in Barcelona did offer some hope but the Brit struggled to 13th in Assen. Having focused mainly on bike set up, the Marc VDS team will now shift their attention to the Honda’s electronics package in search of improvements.

Throughout his Grand Prix career Redding has never had a podium finish at the Sachsenring, he was 11th last year on the Open Honda. It is not just Redding who has struggled with the Honda this season, even Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) has had issues taming the vicious power.

Scott Redding: “I suspect we’re in for a tough weekend in Germany. The Sachsenring isn’t a horsepower track, it’s more about corner speed and edge grip and I know from last year that the softer tyre means we’re going to see some of the Open class riders up the front this weekend. Our goal remains the same though; to close the gap to the other factory Honda riders. So far this year we’ve done a lot with the set up of the bike, but this weekend the plan is to focus more on the electronics, to see if we can find an improvement there. If we can make a step forward and close the gap to the frontrunners, then that will be a positive result to take into the summer break.”
