Iannone: “I’m convinced I can do better”

Assen proved that Andrea Iannone has matured since moving to the factory Ducati squad, shaking off his reputation as a crasher.

A solid fourth place in Assen continued Andrea Iannone’s (Ducati Team) rise, able to break away from the group of pursuing riders and eventually finish just five seconds off the podium. This result has him third in the World Championship standings, 18 points ahead of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) and continues an impressive season in which he has only once finished outside the top five. At Jerez Iannone struggled to sixth, overcoming an error he made when accidentally engaging his wet mode.

In 2013 Andrea Iannone was forced to miss the German round after crashing on Saturday and dislocating his shoulder. Fortunately 2014 was much kinder to the Italian, able to claim a fifth place finish, which would be one of his best results of the season. Now almost fully fit after his more recent shoulder dislocation, Iannone is eager of a return to the podium after his stunning ride to second at home in Mugello

Andrea Iannone: “The Assen race went quite well and I managed to score a good fourth place. Now we’re off to Sachsenring for the next round, which is a bit of a strange track, short but really nice. Last year with the GP14 it didn’t go badly, but this year I’m convinced I can do better because I’m in the factory team and the GP15 is very competitive. I hope it will be a good weekend and as always I’ll be giving 100% for me and my team.”
