Zarco: “Other riders are very strong and we must be ready”

Out for his eighth consecutive podium, Johann Zarco is aware his fellow Moto2™ riders will not make it easy.

Assen saw Ajo Motorsport’s Zarco stay focused when the race was red flagged and restarted, then fend off the likes of Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing) and Jonas Folger (AGR Team). This victory put Zarco 45 championship points clear of Rabat in second, the Spaniard unfortunately breaking his collarbone in a training accident last week.

2015 is currently the best season to date for Zarco who has been racing in the MotoGP™ paddock for seven years. He and the Ajo Motorsport have jelled well and adapted quickly to their new adventure together. Of Zarco’s six races in Germany second in the 2011 125cc race has been his best result. Last year he unfortunately crashed out of the Moto2™ race, his bike catching fire soon after.

Johann Zarco: “The team and the bike are giving me the opportunity to get wins and this is the goal for Germany. It's a circuit that did not go well for us last year, so we'll see which tyre we will use. I think the riding style needed will be a little different from at Assen, but we must be strong from the opening day to get used to the track as soon as possible –and try to be fast and consistent. That's the key in Moto2, because the other riders are very strong and we must be ready for the race. As I said, the goal is victory and we will see if this is possible. I have to enjoy every moment because I have an advantage in the World Championship."
