Marquez: “We need to work a little more on qualifying”

A ninth place finish at the Dutch TT equaled Alex Marquez’s best Moto2™ result to date as he continues to adapt to the class.

2015 has been a season all about learning for young Alex Marquez, the 19 year old taking his time to adapt to the bigger 600cc Moto2™ bike. There has been a steady flow of points throughout this period, promoting the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing rider to 15th in the championship standings, tied with the vastly experienced Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP).

The Sachsenring is not track favoured by the younger Marquez, but he and his team have made significant steps with the set up of his Kalex Moto2™ machine and he’s confident of more points. With the mid-season summer break just after the German GP, a good result now is critical to maintaining spirits during this period and having a strong second half to the season.

Alex Marquez: “After two race weekends where we improved both my pace and my rhythm a lot, I’m looking forward to the Sachsenring. It’s not one of my favourite circuits, but we go there in a positive frame of mind and looking to continue the improvements of the last few races. It’s important to get a good result this weekend in Germany, as it means we will go into the summer break with a good feeling. To do that we need to work a little more on qualifying and also my pace at the end of the race, but for this we have some clear ideas, so I’m completely motivated for the weekend ahead.”
