Dovizioso: “I am not very happy”

Dovizioso: “I am not very happy”

A difficult first day for both Ducati team riders in Germany, Dovizioso lost with the set up of his GP15.

Setting a 1’22.340 in FP2 had Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) way down the order in tenth on combined times for the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Perhaps what is most concerning for Dovizioso is that Yonny Hernandez (Octo Pramac Racing) was 0.144s quicker on the older model Ducati and Hector Barbera (Avintia Racing) was only 0.073s behind the factory rider. There’s clearly still work to be done for the Italian who has hit a troubled patch after his stellar start to the season.

Dovizioso last had a podium at the Sachsenring back in 2012 when he was third, since moving to Ducati he has secured consistent top tens at the German track. Regardless of results, the experienced Italian will have some joy this weekend as he looks set to equal the current record of successive unbroken Grand Prix starts, about to make his 230th this weekend.

Andrea Dovizioso: “I am not very happy with the afternoon session when I hoped to be able to make some further improvement, but the modifications we tried did not work the way we had hoped for. Even when the things we try don’t give the expected results, they are in any case useful to understand the direction to take and this will help us for tomorrow. Of course we still have a lot to do because our speed is not as much as we want, but I am confident for tomorrow.”
