Redding: “I tried my best to save it'

A disastrous weekend for Redding in Germany, made more disappointing by strong pace in Warm Up.

The GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland lasted just 12 corners for Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Scott Redding who fell at Turn 13 on the first lap. The crash was made worse by a strong eighth place finish in Warm Up, filling Redding with hope of another top ten finish as in the Catalan GP. After his crash Redding tried to remount, but the damage to his RC213V meant he was unable to continue.

Sachsenring marks yet another tough race in a troublesome first half of the season for Redding, both he and the team expecting more after an impressive debut season in 2014 on the Open Honda. The summer break will give Redding and his crew a chance to regroup and hopefully bounce back and return to fighting for the top ten. The Brit currently sits 14th with 30 points in the World Championship, 27 points behind Maverick Viñales in tenth.

Scott Redding: “I am very disappointed. I had good pace for the race and I was recovering some places after an average start when I crashed at the final corner. As soon as I released the front brake the front unloaded. I tried my best to save it but there was nothing I could do. I am annoyed and frustrated because I am confident I could have fought for the top 10 or higher based on my times from earlier in the weekend. All I can do now is train hard in the summer break and look to bounce back in Indianapolis.”
