Bagnaia: “We struggled more than we should have”

Francesco Bagnaia admits he struggled in the last three races before the summer break and is looking to bounce back in Indianapolis.

Bagnaia’s last three results have been a 20th, 11th and a DNF, and he is hoping that he can return to the form that saw him on the podium earlier in the year at Le Mans. The young Italian spent some time during the summer break conducting a wind tunnel test and is determined to make a big improvement in the second half of the season.

Francesco Bagnaia: “After taking a nice rest we are looking forward to going to Indianapolis. In the three races leading up to the break we struggled more than we should have so at Indy we will be working very hard from Friday to get back to where we belong. The first few races of the season were very positive and we showed a high level of performance, with a podium along the way, so if necessary at Indianapolis we'll take a step back with the set-up and try to rediscover that feeling. Mahindra have worked hard over the summer and I was able to attend a wind tunnel test for a couple of days last week, which I am sure will prove useful this weekend. We will try to be fast from Friday at Indianapolis and make our way to the front in practice and in the race. I like the track, it's fast with some interesting corners, and I love racing in the USA. The atmosphere there is something special.”
