Marquez: “I think it went pretty well overall”

A frantic battle for supremacy emerged in FP2 which saw Marquez just edged out of the top spot.

Free Practice 1 did not go to plan for Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) who encountered problems with his first bike. These problems slow him dramatically and saw the Honda rider floundering outside the top ten. Once Marquez switched bikes he quickly shot up the order, finishing second.

The second free practice session of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix was a dramatic affair. Both Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) fought for the top spot. Throughout the session they traded laps and in the end just 0.003s separated them, Marquez unfortunately again finishing second. The close pace of Lorenzo and Marquez will no doubt lead to a riveting Qualifying session on Saturday.

Marc Marquez: “It was the first day back after the break and I think it went pretty well overall. I felt comfortable on the bike and that is the most important thing. The track is gaining grip but we must continue working in the same way in order to continue improving. Currently Jorge is the rider that seems to be strongest, but tomorrow we will try to get a little closer to him."
