Redding: “The track conditions are quite tricky”

A positive start to the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix for Scott Redding, finishing in the top ten.

2015 has been a difficult year for Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Scott Redding, but yet again hope has appeared. The opening day of practice at the Indianapolis Grand Prix has the Brit in eighth overall and just 0.583s slower than Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP). Perhaps even more encouraging for Redding, he was only 0.015s behind Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) on the full factory Honda machine.

As is always the case at Indianapolis, track conditions were the main talking point of the first day. Clear skies and warm temperatures meant that the weather was at least perfect, but the track itself still has room to improve. As more action takes place on track more rubber will be laid down and increase the grip. Currently the track is quite dusty with inconsistent grip across its 4.2 kilometre long layout.

Scott Redding: “I felt pretty good on the bike today. The track conditions are quite tricky but the feeling on the bike wasn't so bad. We just need to work on a few different areas in the second half of the season. I'm working to improve my corner speed, so we have to try a few small changes on the bike to help that. Overall, though, I'm quite happy with today, because I did most of my laps alone. Of course, we need to see what happens over the rest of the weekend but I'm happy to start with this rhythm."
