 Rookie Rins leads the way in Moto2™ FP1

Alex Rins tops the timesheets in Free Practice 1 ahead of Jonas Folger and Tito Rabat at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Paginas Amarillas HP40’s rookie Alex Rins set the fastest time during Moto2™ Free Practice 1 on a glorious morning (35.3ºC Track Temp) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the Moto2™ World Championship got back to action after the summer break. 

AGR Team’s Jonas Folger (+0.070s), a double race winner this year, was in second, with reigning Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat (+0.162s) completing the provisional front row in what was an incredibly close session with just one second separating the top 17 riders.

Dominique Aegerter (+0.220s) on the Technomag Racing Interwetten Kalex was in fourth, ahead of Italtrans Racing Team’s Mika Kallio (+0.316s) in fifth and Sam Lowes (+0.322s) on the Speed Up racing bike in sixth.

Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) impressed in seventh, with Franco Morbidelli (Italtrans Racing Team), Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), and race winner last time out Xavier Simeon (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) completing the top ten.

Tech 3’s Xavi Vierge (+02.752s) was making his debut after replacing Ricky Cardus and finished the session in 26th.
