Lorenzo: “I always have great fun at Brno”

A successful Indianapolis round saw Lorenzo make gains in the championship; he’s aiming for a repeat showing this weekend.

The flowing Brno circuit of the bwin Grand Prix České republiky has seen Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) claim eight podiums throughout his racing career, including four wins. Since 2010, when Lorenzo last won, the track has been dominated by Honda riders as in Indianapolis. If the previous round is anything to go by Lorenzo will be a challenger for the race win despite who history may favour.

Lorenzo’s main aim for the weekend will be continuing to close the championship gap to teammate Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), which currently stands at nine points. This will be difficult as Rossi, along with Max Biaggi, has claimed seven wins at the Brno circuit. Temperatures are predicated to skyrocket throughout the weekend which could produce surprising results, a strong base setting will be crucial for Lorenzo to begin working effectively.

Jorge Lorenzo: “Overall the last race at Indy was pretty good for us considering that usually Indianapolis Motor Speedway is not one of my favourite tracks. It also suits our rivals better than it does us, so we have to be proud of what we did there on Sunday. Now it is time to face Brno, a completely different circuit. In this case I like the contrast a lot because I always have great fun at Brno, it‘s a nice racetrack where maybe we can be stronger than we were last weekend. We will need to be focused on doing a great job starting from Friday and try to gain as many points as we can to reduce the gap to Valentino.
