Vazquez sets the early pace in Moto3™ FP1

Leopard Racing's Efren Vazquez ends the first Free Practice session on top ahead of his teammate and championship leader Danny Kent.

It was the Leopard Racing duo of Efren Vazquez and Danny Kent that led the way as the Moto3™ paddock took to the track in glorious sunshine and with ground temperatures reaching 33˚C at the Automotodrom Brno to kick off the action at the bwin Grand Prix Ceské republiky.

Vazquez topped the timesheets with a 2’08.700, over a second off Alex Rins’ pole record from 2013 (2’07.622), to finish 0.152s ahead of Kent as riders took to the track for the first time in Brno.

Romano Fenati (+0.208s) on the Sky Racing Team VR46 KTM was third, with Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miguel Oliveira (+0.248s) just ahead of his teammate Brad Binder (+0.288s) in fourth and fifth respectively.

Gresini Racing Team Moto3’s Enea Bastianini (+0.582s) was a further three-tenths back in sixth, with Isaac Viñales who continues to fill-in for the injured Ana Carrasco on the RAB Racing Team KTM in seventh.

Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Niklas Ajo (RBA Racing Team) and Alessandro Tonucci (Outox Reset Drink Team) completed the top ten.

There were crashes for Ajo, Niccolo Antonelli (11th), Maria Herrera (33rd), John McPhee (23rd) and Hiroko Ono (21st); luckily none of the riders were hurt.
