Kent shows class to top Moto3™ FP3

Kent shows class to top Moto3™ FP3

Leopard Racing’s Danny Kent showed his pace to finish 0.322s ahead of the rest of the field in FP3.

Moto3™ championship leader Danny Kent took advantage of the cooler conditions (Track Temp 33˚C) of the morning to set the fastest time of the weekend in FP3. The British rider managed a 2’07.649, only a couple of tenths off Alex Rins pole record from last season (2’07.622).

With the conditions more akin to what the riders will face in tomorrows race (11am local time), many decided to focus on race trim, and it was only towards the end of the session that times dramatically improved.

Kent finished 0.322s ahead of 16-year-old Frenchman Fabio Quartararo on the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Miguel Oliveira (+0.427s) was third fastest, with Kent’s teammate Efren Vazquez (+0.452s) in fourth.

Jorge Martin (+0.641s) showed good pace on the Mapfre Mahindra Team machine to end the session in fifth, with Estrella Galicia’s Jorge Navarro (+0.767s) in sixth.

Alexis Masbou (SAXOPRINT RTG), Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Team Moto3), Romano Fenati (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold) completed the top ten, despite Antonelli crashing mid way through the session.

Scottish rider John McPhee (SAXOPRINT RTG) improved from 18th overnight to end the session in 12th as he looks to follow up his podium at Indianapolis.
