Zarco: “I do not look at the statistics”

The bwin Grand Prix České republiky saw Zarco backflip for the fourth time in 2015, celebrating his fourth win.

Yet again Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) extends his lead in the Moto2™ World Championship. A near perfect race saw the French rider lead from the start of the second lap to the finish line, able to steadily grow and maintain his gap at the front. Not only is this Zarco’s fourth win, but also his tenth consecutive podium, a new record in the Moto2™ class. A small mistake from Tito Rabat (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing) in the opening laps helped Zarco to gain an early advantage.

This win pushes Zarco to 224 points in the World Championship, a 79-point lead over Rabat. If this gap remains the same Zarco will be crowned Moto2™ World Champion at Phillip Island, the Frenchman needing a lead of 100 points to win the title a round earlier in Motegi. The paddock now prepare to head to Silverstone for round 12 of the championship, last year Zarco finished fourth at the British GP.

Johann Zarco: “This weekend I had a good feeling from the start. I felt comfortable on the bike at all times, riding well with both a full and empty fuel tank. The race was not easy, as I had a lead of between 6 tenths and 1 second, which is a good advantage but far from definitive. I had to be very focused and on the final laps I was able to extend the gap to take the victory. I am very happy with the win and for having extended the lead in the standings, which is very important to me. I do not look at the statistics because I am fortunate to have a team behind me who make me concentrate on what really matters. I want to thank them, and now we will focus on Silverstone."
