Binder: “On the last lap I gave 110%”

Binder: “On the last lap I gave 110%”

For the second time in 2015 Binder takes to the podium with a third at the bwin Grand Prix České republiky.

A red flag on lap one of the Moto3™ World Championship saw the race restarted and reduced to just 12 laps. This sprint saw a large group of riders frequently trading places, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) led at various points but saw himself sucked into the group as other riders slipstreamed past. Any attempt the South African made to break away was halted, Binder eventually settled for a ‘crash or podium’ mentality.

It all came down to the last corner in true Moto3™ style, Binder gritting his teeth to burst into third place at the final corner. The raced ended with him as the top KTM rider, the only KTM inside the top five. With 99 points after the Czech GP, Binder sits sixth in the Championship and is just 10 points shy of Efren Vazquez (Leopard Racing) in fifth place.

Brad Binder: “It 's my second podium of the season and I'm very happy about that. In the race I fought as hard as I could, right to the end, and I worked to achieve the best possible result. On the last lap I gave 110% and overtook many riders, so I'm very happy to be back on the podium. Before the red flag I had a tyre problem so we were lucky with that; in the second race we put another one on that worked wonders, gave me a lot of confidence and meant I was able to ride very strongly throughout the race.”

“This race has been very positive for me, because at Jerez I did not really earn the podium -another rider cleared the way for me on the last corner- so I believe that this is my first 'real' podium of the season."
