Dovizioso: “I expect a lot from this race”

Improving the GP15’s front end is Andrea Dovizioso’s main aim for the Octo British Grand Prix.

A fierce battle with Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was Andrea Dovizioso’s reward for continuing his tireless work on developing the new Ducati GP15. The Ducati Team rider was bested by under 0.1s as the duo dragged to the line. Dovizioso now turns to Silverstone, a personal favourite circuit of his, and the Italian is expecting big things. His primary aim is to improve the front-end feeling of his Ducati; once this issue is resolved he and the team are confident they can return to fighting at the front of the pack.

During the one week break between rounds Ducati had a one-day test in Misano ahead of the MotoGP™ World Championship round there later this year. Despite the different track layout and surface, more time on the bike is always useful and Dovizioso is keen to apply several ideas found in Misano. Dovizioso has had two MotoGP™ podium finishes at Silverstone and also took his first, and so far only, MotoGP™ victory at the British GP back in 2009 when it was held in Donington.

Andrea Dovizioso: “Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits, it’s really beautiful and I am happy to go there for the race on Sunday. For sure I expect a lot from this race, but we still have to improve the feeling with the front before we can aim for a good result, especially because the top guys are in perfect form at the moment. I am however optimistic about the upcoming weekend in England.”
