Lorenzo: “I won several races at Silverstone in the past”

For the first time in over a year, Jorge Lorenzo leads the MotoGP™ World Championship.

Both Movistar Yamaha riders sit atop the championship with 211 points each, but Jorge Lorenzo has the upper hand thanks to his five race wins in 2015. Fresh off his dominant victory in the Czech Republic, Lorenzo heads to the Octo British Grand Prix full of confidence. The Silverstone circuit has been kind to Lorenzo, seeing him take multiple victories and battle closely with Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). With a fast and quite flowing layout, the British track suits the Yamaha M1 well.

Lorenzo’s teammate, Valentino Rossi, has often struggled at Silverstone that may provide the Spaniard with a chance to seize the advantage. With confidence in Lorenzo’s garage running high there’s little doubt Silverstone will again play host to an explosive race from Lorenzo. Marquez is always a threat, but the Yamaha rider has proven on multiple occasions that even in a straight fight he can best the reigning World Champion.

Jorge Lorenzo: “I‘m quite happy after winning again in Brno. The last time I won there was in 2010, so I think it was also important for Yamaha to be back on the podium after five years. Now it‘s time to go to England and I love that place. Especially the track is a great opportunity for us; it has a nice layout where our Yamaha YZR-M1 always behaves in a perfect way. It‘s a very enjoyable track but also very demanding because it‘s long and has plenty of high speed corners and change of directions, so you need to be in a perfect shape to be able to fight for the podium. I won several races at Silverstone in the past and I feel good there so hopefully this season we can achieve another great result on British soil.”
