Pedrosa: “I had a strange feeling with the bike”

A wet Octo British Grand Prix saw Dani Pedrosa finish at the top Honda machine despite an early mistake.

Drama on the line of Sunday’s MotoGP™ World Championship race as rain fell on the warm up lap, sending the entire field into the pits for a last minute bike change. As a result the red flag was brought out and a full restart was performed, unfortunately for Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa the start did not go well and he struggled off the line. From there the Repsol Honda rider found it difficult to settle into a strong rhythm and was overall unimpressed with his own performance. Pedrosa finished in fifth and as the top Honda after Repsol Honda teammate Marc Marquez crashed out of the race.

On a more positive note, Pedrosa was able to finish ahead of Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team), able to claw back valuable ground in the championship. With 102 points, Pedrosa sits seventh in the MotoGP™ World Championship standings and is 13 points behind Smith. Since joining the premier class in 2006, Pedrosa has only finished outside the top three in the World Championship standings on three occasions.

Dani Pedrosa: “To be honest, it was not a good day. I had a strange feeling with the bike in the rain; we did not have much grip and it was very delicate to ride. I made a mistake at the start because I didn’t get off the line well, and after that I never found a good pace either. I tried to do my best but the feeling was not good; I'm quite unhappy with the last few results. We will try to push harder at the next race at Misano to see if we can catch up, and be higher up the order than in recent races."
