Hayden: “The feedback I have heard has been positive”

Nicky Hayden eager to sample the new Misano surface at the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

From 2008 to 2011, Nicky Hayden (Aspar MotoGP Team) failed to finish a single MotoGP™ at the Misano circuit, very rarely down to his own mistakes. His luck was so poor that one-year he brought in a local priest to bless his bike, a move which improved his results dramatically and saw ‘The Kentucky Kid’ finish in the top ten on his next two visits. Regardless of poor luck, Hayden is excited to sample the new track surface and embrace the hoards of local fans who flock to the Rimini coast for the race.

The British GP saw Hayden finish at the top open rider and he’s keen to repeat this performance at the tight and twisty Misano. A resurfacing in March means that there's a lot to learn for Hayden and his fellow MotoGP™ riders, with completley new levels of grip. Thanks to his strong performance in Silverstone, Hayden has moved to 18th in the overall championship and is now the leading Open Honda rider. With Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) leading the MotoGP™ World Championship, Hayden is expecting the fans to be even more passionate and the stands full to the brim.

Nicky Hayden: “I am looking forward to riding at Misano. The track has been resurfaced for this season and the feedback I have heard has been positive, it sounds like the bumps have gone. Misano hasn't been as successful for me in the past as I would have liked but it's still a track I enjoy. As always the objective is to work hard from Friday and try to improve in every session so that we are ready on Sunday and in a position to fight for a good result. The Rossi factor, with him leading the championship and riding at home, should make for a spectacular atmosphere. All the riders feel the passion and the excitement of the Italian fans.”
