Corsi quickest in Moto2™ FP1

Simone Corsi finished the morning session on top of the timesheets ahead of Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger.

Forward Racing’s Simone Corsi adapted to the newly resurfaced track to set a 1’37.910 and top Free Practice 1 on a glorious morning at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The Italian was less than three-tenths off Pol Espargaro’s Pole Record (1’37.666) from 2013.

Corsi was just 0.015s ahead of championship leader Johann Zarco on the Ajo Motorsport Kalex in a session that saw less than a second separate the top 18 riders.

AGR Team’s Jonas Folger (+0.214s) finished in third ahead of his teammate Axel Pons (+0.293s), with EG 0,0 Marc VDS’s Tito Rabat (+0.315s) ending the session in fifth.

Paginas Amarillas HP40’s Alex Rins (+0.428s) was sixth fastest while Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten), Anthony West (QMMF Racing), Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) and Julian Simon (QMMF Racing) completed the top ten, despite the latter crashing out of the session at turn 10 with 7 minutes remaining.

Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes also went down at Turn 10 late on in the session and had to settle for 14th, 0.669s off the pace of Corsi. Wildcards Luca Marini (Pons Junior Racing Team) and Xavi Vierge (Tech 3) ended the session in 26th & 27th respectively.
