Pedrosa: “I had to stay in the garage”

Technical issues limit Dani Pedrosa’s track time during practice for the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon.

Small technical issues in relation to the brakes and overall setting of his Repsol Honda machine kept Pedrosa in the pits, unable to complete as many laps around Aragon as he would have liked. Even with limited tack time Pedrosa was able to briefly assess the hard and medium compound options but remains unsure of which to use come race day. Almost every rider in the MotoGP™ World Championship remains uncertain of which option to run over race distance and it may very well be the deciding factor.

Unlike the Movistar Yamaha team, Repsol Honda have not tested at the circuit so spent much of FP1 catching up to Yamaha who already had a solid base setting to expand upon. A respectable 1’48.358 put Pedrosa fourth overall, but the Spaniard is quietly confident as this time came on a set of used hard tyres while the rest of the MotoGP™ field opted for a new set of softs.

Dani Pedrosa: “Today we had some problems with the general settings and also with the brakes and so I had to stay in the garage to resolve them and we could not put in all the laps we would have liked. We were able to test the tyres -both the hard and medium compounds- although I do not know yet which will be the right choice. The medium is faster but it is unknown whether it can last the entire race. I hope that tomorrow we can have more track time, in order to continue working to improve our pace and have a good qualifying session."
