Rabat remains on top in Moto2™ FP3

Rabat remains on top in Moto2™ FP3

Tito Rabat stayed ensconced on the top of the timesheets after FP3 after improving his record time from Friday at Aragon.

EG 0,0 Marc VDS’s Rabat managed a 1’53.118 as he set a new record Moto2™ lap around the MotorLand Aragon circuit in FP3. The Spaniard, who had already broken the lap record at he circuit, improved his time from Friday by almost five-hundredths of a second to finish 0.034s ahead of AGR Team’s Jonas Folger.

Folger spectacularly improved from 19th on Friday to finish in second with Paginas Amarillas HP40’s Alex Rins (+0.228s) completing the provisional front row.

Hafiz Syahrin left it late to secure fourth spot after getting a tow from Folger and Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes in the latter stages of the session. Lowes has to settle for fifth, 0.349s off the pace of Rabat.

Dynavolt Intact GP’s Sandro Cortese (+0.400s) was sixth fastest with Thomas Luthi on the Derendinger Racing Interwetten Kalex in seventh. Idemitsu Honda Team Asia’s Takaaki Nakagami found himself down in eighth after ending Friday in second overall.

Ajo Motorsport’s championship leader Johann Zarco, who could lift the title this weekend if results go his way, ended the session in ninth. Mika Kallio making his debut on the QMMF Racing Team Kalex completed the top ten.

Kallio’s replacement in the Italtrans Racing Team, Federico Caricasulo, has pulled out of the rest of the weekend due to an injured AC joint sustained at the WorldSBK round in Jerez, which he aggravated in on Friday in a crash in FP1.
