Vazquez sets fastest time of weekend in Moto3™ FP3

Efren Vazquez tops Saturday morning’s FP3 session ahead of Niccolo Antonelli and Miguel Oliveira.

Leopard Racing’s Vazquez set a 1’58.267 to come out on top in a session that came to live in the final ten minutes as riders put on fresh slicks and had a mini ‘pre-qualifying’ session. The Spaniard set the fastest time of the weekend so far at what is his home grand prix and was only 0.3s off Juanfran Guevara’s Lap Record (1’57.930) from last year.

Ongetta-Rivacold’s Niccolo Antonelli was 0.263s back in second with Miguel Oliveira on the Red Bull KTM Ajo (+0.274s) completing the provisional front row as the top ten riders were separated by almost exactly a second.

Leopard Racing’s championship leader Danny Kent (+0.354s) was fourth fastest ahead of Brad Binder (+0.559s) on the second Red Bull KTM Ajo and Sky Racing Team VR46’s Romano Fenati (+0.763s).

The man who topped yesterday’s combined timesheets Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Team Moto3) found himself down in seventh ahead of Andrea Migno (Sky Racing Team VR46), Livio Loi (RW Racing GP) and Karel Hanika (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed the top ten.

Scotsman John McPhee (SAXOPRINT-RTG) improved from 30th on Friday to finish 11th fastest while the replacement for the injured Fabio Quartararo, Sena Yamada (Estrella Galicia 0,0), ended the session in 28th.

Andrea Locatelli (Gresini Racing Team Moto3) pulled out of the weekends action ahead of FP3 due to the pain he is suffering from the broken scrum he sustain in Misano.
