Crutchlow: “It’s a special place for Honda”

The Motul Grand Prix of Japan is Honda’s home race and Cal Crutchlow is eager to impress.

The aim, as always, for Cal Crutchlow and his LCR Honda team will be to start the weekend on a positive note and make steps forward with each session. As a Honda team, the Japanese GP is an important round for LCR and Crutchlow is hoping for a solid result. Aragon saw the British rider finish in seventh, proving to both himself and the team that they are currently on the right track. Motegi is a circuit, which has classically suited Honda, since the introduction of the four-stroke era Honda have claimed five wins in Motegi.

Hard braking and acceleration have always been strengths of the Honda MotoGP™ machine, but Yamaha have improved their bike dramatically in 2015 and the battle for the top five will be close. Front end issues have also plagued the Honda and Crutchlow for much of the year, though continued work by both the LCR team and Honda have seen the problem improve recently. Some forecasts also suggest that Sunday’s race may be hit with rain, potentially opening up the podium to Crutchlow and a multitude of other riders.

Cal Crutchlow: “The whole team is really looking forward to racing here at Motegi, it’s a special place for Honda so hopefully it should be a good weekend for us. We will be looking to start well and then continue to progress throughout the whole weekend and have a good race on Sunday. The team are working really hard, we were encouraged by a satisfactory result in Aragon, but now were are looking to do even better here in Japan.”
