A guide to the #JapaneseGP Moto2™ race

All of the information you need to impress your friends ahead of the Motul Grand Prix of Japan.

The 23-lap race at the Twin Ring Motegi kicks off at 13:00 local time on Sunday in Motegi:

  • Johann Zarco starts from pole for the seventh time in 2015; from his previous six poles this year he has had five wins and a second place finish.

  • Tom Luthi, the winner of the Moto2 race last year in Japan, is in second place on the grid - just his second front row start of 2015.

  • In third place on the grid is Jonas Folger – his first front row start since the Catalan Grand Prix.

  • Heading the second row of the grid is Sam Lowes, who two weeks ago in Aragon returned to the podium for the first time since the Dutch TT.

  • Alex Rins is in fifth place on the grid – the first time since the German Grand Prix that he has failed to get onto the front row.

  • Taking the final place on the second row is Hafizh Syahrin, which equals his best ever qualifying result from two races ago at Misano.
