Dovizioso: “This year we can be competitive”

Andrea Dovizioso ready to assess the GP15’s performance at the Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, an event he has struggled at.

Despite finish fourth in last year’s Australian GP, Andrea Dovizioso found the going extremely tough, since moving to the premier class in 2008 Dovizioso has only claimed a single podium at Phillip Island when he was third in 2011.The 2015 MotoGP™ season has seen Ducati make a remarkable improvement over their recent form, both Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso now fighting for spots in the top five of the world championship table. A solid fifth at the Japanese GP has put Andrea Dovizioso just four points shy of Dani (Pedrosa) in fifth.

Ducati have not had success at Phillip Island since Casey Stoner won every race in which he started for the legendary Italian brand. Phillip Island can often throw up unique weather conditions with high winds often seen. Throughout the season Ducati have experimented with aerodynamic changes, particularly winglets, and this experimentation may give the GP15 and Andrea Dovizioso an edge if winds pick up.

Andrea Dovizioso: “Phillip Island is not one of my favourite circuits, but with the GP15 I believe that this year we can be competitive, and so it should be a good weekend for us. It’ll actually be interesting to see how we will go here because last year I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike at all. Throughout the Motegi weekend, we did however improve on our performance and so also here we’ll be working hard to get a good result.”
