Marquez: “Jorge is very fast, but we are working well”

Marc Marquez ends Friday happy as he topped the timesheets at Phillip Island after making some key changes to the setup of his RC213V.

Repsol Honda’s Marquez had been second in FP1 behind Jorge Lorenzo in the damp, cooler conditions of the morning, but the Spaniard improved along with the weather in the afternoon to set a 1’29.383. Marquez showed no ill effects of the broken bone his in his left hand to finish 0.050s ahead of Lorenzo on the combined timesheets.

Marquez fourth at Motegi sees him currently sit third in the MotoGP™ World Championship standings, 25 points ahead of Andrea Iannone in fourth. MotoGP™ FP3 kicks off at 10:55am local time on Saturday.

Marc Marquez: “It was a good day overall. The morning session was a bit tricky because there was some light rain, but you could still go fast. In the afternoon we worked a lot on setting the bike up for the race, because it will be held at a similar time, and I think we took a step forward. Once again, Jorge is very fast, but we are working well, we have good pace and were able to set a good lap. What is important is that the changes we have made to the setup of the bike have allowed us to improve.”
