Miller: “I expect it to be an interesting race”

Jack Miller will start his first home race in the premier class from 15th position after a strong start to the weekend.

Friday was an incredible day for LCR Honda’s Jack Miller, fifth in FP1 and 11th overall, this left him hopeful of a top ten result in Qualifying. Unfortunately things didn’t go to plan for Miller, unable to improve past a 1’30.104 during the 15 minute Q1 session. This saw him miss advancing into Q2 by just 0.4s and his team were pleased with this result and the weekend overall. Despite his disappointment at not advancing to Q2, 15th is Miller’s best grid position of the 2015 season.

The race will no doubt be a close one as riders throughout the field have very similar times, Miller’s Open class Honda also seems to be at less of a disadvantage around the Australian circuit. During Warm Up Miller and his team will implement several setting changes in an attempt to find their Friday morning form again. Regardless of result, Miller has demonstrated his talent this weekend and proved the jump from Moto3™ directly to MotoGP™ was no mistake.

Jack Miller: “I’m really happy to be racing tomorrow at Phillip Island, in front of my home fans. Qualifying didn’t quite go as we would have liked, but I’m still looking forward to the race. I’m starting from the fifth row of the grid, so I expect it to be an interesting race, that's for sure! We’ll be putting in a lot of work this evening to get the bike a little closer to where we want it to be, especially for the second half of the race. We will see how it all goes.”
