Bradl: “I wasn't fast enough throughout the entire weekend”

Bradl: “I wasn't fast enough throughout the entire weekend”

The Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix proved an enormously difficult weekend for Stefan Bradl who struggled outside the points.

Since joining the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini in Indianapolis, Stefan Bradl has been incredibly competitive and frequently able to finish in front of teammate Alvaro Bautista. But Phillip Island proved a challenging weekend for the German, never able to find a comfortable setting and never ending a session within the top 20. Frequent setting changes did nothing to improve his feeling with the RS-GP and although he and the team made a slight step forward in Warm Up, Bradl was unsure of how the race would go. Bradl lined up in 21st on the grid for Sunday’s race and knew it would simply be a case of damage limitation.

Bradl would end the race in 21st after being involved in a close battle with the likes of Mike Di Meglio (Avintia Racing) and Eugene Laverty (Aspar MotoGP Team). Focus now shifts to Sepang for the penultimate round of the World Championship and Bradl is hopeful of a better result. While the majority of the grid have experience from testing their bikes in Sepang, Bradl does not having joined Aprilia mid-season after the departure of Marco Melandri.

Stefan Bradl: “I'm disappointed because I wasn't fast enough throughout the entire weekend. During practice we tried a lot of changes and even though we were able to take a small step forward this morning in warm up, we were unable to overcome our difficulties. It's a shame. This time we were not as fast as we expected to be. Now we'll look forward to Malaysia, a track where we'll have some more reference points.”
